Yesterday, I got an email from Blogger (who never, ever emails me about stuff) announcing their new Template Designer.
So I took a look at it and fell in love with the new, uber-customizable templates they offer.
After playing around with it for a while, this is what I came up with. I really, really, like it.

I like the color scheme but the comment box is still black on white and it's sorta jarring.
I was commenting to say I really like it.
I can't do anything about the comment box, the colors for it are set by Google. Only thing I can really do is switch from the embedded form to one of the other options... and I might do it.
