Bandwidth conservation over social networking

Chron.com: College bans MySpace.com to save bandwidth

CORPUS CHRISTI — Del Mar College students who want to surf their online social scene at MySpace.com will have to use computers outside the school's system.

The Corpus Christi community college blocked the site recently in response to complaints about sluggish Internet speed on campus computers. An investigation found that heavy traffic at MySpace.com was eating up too much bandwidth, said August Alfonso, the school's chief of information and technology.

Well, that's an interesting approach to solving your problem. Give the students a week and they'll find a way around it. There are places all over the web that can do that.

The thing with all the use is, as I've been told, that it's like the crack of the internet.

As a MySpace user, I don't see it.

Yet.
