Saturday Dogblogging 3.25.06

Bruiser's still a little tired from helping with the Carnival of the Cats a couple of weeks ago.

Long night

I worked a concert tonight out at Ford Park.

George Jones and Merle Haggard.

I didn't catch much of the music since I was "working" backstage most of the night. By "working," I mean sitting in a chair and making sure that people had credentials to be back there.

I did get to go out for the last half-hour because the person who was sitting on the right end of the stage keeping people that didn't belong from getting backstage disappeared.

Now I've got He Stopped Loving Her Today stuck in my head.

I like that song.

It's one of the better concerts I've worked, right up there with PUddle of Mudd, 3 Doors Down and ZZ Top.

More photoshop stuff...

This is my entry for this weekends Blogs4Bauer caption/photoshop contest. It came to me through the caption ideas that were left already.

Jack: "Colette, I've got something for you in a bag in the backseat of my car. Put it on and meet me in room 712 in ten minutes. Here's a key."

I'm happy with that one, but it wasn't easy. If you click on the link to the contest page you'll see the original.

I've never done this much work on one before.

My bracket is now officially trashed...

I had Duke making the championship game, need I say more?

Too many balls for one day

I was thinking about going to the driving range before bowling tonight and hitting a bucket of balls just for the hell of it, but changed my mind.

A guy can only take so much frustration, ya know.

Songs

I can't keep it to thirteen like K T Cat's post over at The Scratching Post. I think I'll go with 20... some with explinations.

  1. Green Day - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life): I'm still mad at my senior class for not picking this as the class song.
  2. Nickelback - Photograph: Only song that's ever made me cry, getting uprooted from home for two weeks will do that to ya.
  3. Hoobastank - The Reason: Seems almost like the story of my life.
  4. Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends
  5. Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
  6. Seether - Remedy
  7. Toby Keith - How Do You Like Me Now?: The song that brought Toby to where he is now, and the one that caught my attention.
  8. Big & Rich - Big Time: Kind of a "do your own thing" kinda song.
  9. Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia
  10. Toby Keith - Weed With Willie: If you ever heard it, you wouldn't ask why. :)
  11. Hinder - Homecoming Queen: Yea, that's the one under About Me
  12. Toby Keith - American Soldier
  13. Norah Jones - Don't Know Why: I don't know why I like this one so much, but I do. Pardon the pun.
  14. Theory of a Deadman - No Surprise: First time I heard it, I thought of an ex-girlfriend. I laughed.
  15. Toby Keith - As Good As I Once Was
  16. Puddle Of Mudd - Away From Me
  17. Nickelback - Rockstar: Gotta love celebs making fun of being a celeb.
  18. Gary Allan - Tough Little Boys: Tugs at that sift side of mine that doesn't show much.
  19. Gary Allan - Nothing on But the Radio: I thought everybody had a gettin' it on song.
  20. Big & Rich - Rollin (The Ballad of Big & Rich): Kinda like "Big Time" but different at the same time.

Six months ago today . . .

. . . I drove for 22 straight hours.

OK, so there were two stops that were about an hour each and I basically idled for the first 20, so sue me.

That was most of our evacuation to Fort Worth ahead of Rita.

I didn't stop by choice. When I was on the loop in Tyler (because you have to be nuts to actually drive through that town) I was so tired that I had to stop... after obliviously blazing through a school zone and almost getting in a wreck.

My brother took over.

Roughly three hours later, we were in Fort Worth.

I slept all day pretty much.

Wonder why I wanna move now???

See, I can send semi-nice emails to people that piss me off

Mississippi Sea Wolves 3.21.06 press release

The section of note (underlining by the team):

Our fans are also asking why the Texas Wildcatters were given a new lease that included free rent for two years just to keep the team in Beaumont after Hurricane Rita cancelled their 2005-06 season. Unlike the Sea Wolves who lost everything from staplers to skate sharpeners, the Wildcatters, sustained no physical loses yet they are being given incentives to remain in Texas.

And my response:

Mike,

Explain something to me, please. What does the situation with the Wildcatters have to do with your team? Why does it matter? How do the situations compare?

As I know you've been made aware, the new lease was negotiated to prevent a lawsuit because our facilities were, in fact, available for the season when we were told they wouldn't be. FEMA, who was using Ford Park as a staging area, had left the complex a week before the season would have started.

Last I checked, that's not what happened in Mississippi.

Don't get me wrong here, I know what hurricanes do all too well. I spent 20 hours in a car to get 100 miles ahead of Rita and came home to a tree on our roof and a shed missing a roof, among other things. But your losses are not a legitimate reason for a professional organization to act like a bunch of whiny second graders complaining that one kid's slice of pizza is bigger.

Anyways, back to my question. How do they compare?

They don't.

All I ask for is an apology to us, the Texas Wildcatters fans, and a retraction.

Thanks,

Justin

We'll see how the response is. Let's just say that if Mike makes this ugly, I'll out-ugly him in a heartbeat.

I'm not someone you wanna piss off.

UPDATE: I got a response, he tells me that he didn't write the release, he was just told to post it. I wrote back asking how to get ahold of the person that did write it.

UPDATE 2.0: got a RE, he says he'll pass it on. I'd be surprised as heck if he really does.

Over the river and through the woods

(A Filthy Lie)

Evil Glenn recently said that he enjoyed visiting with his grandmother.

Why, you ask?

Well, I contacted my sources at the University of Tennessee who "volunteered" this interesting tidbit:

Glenn Reynolds' grandmother is none other than Paris Hilton.

Yes, that Paris Hilton. The human ironing board, 2005's most-hated celebrity and the only known carrier of every STD in existence.

I know it sounds crazy, but the girl gets around. A lot. So it's entirely plausible.

And, really, when is hanging around with a dingy blonde not fun?

My source couldn't tell me if there were any "home-made videos" recorded. Let's hope that they didn't.

The Great Lego- U.N. Debate

Read about it here.

ROFL!!!

OK, I'll throw in another line so this doesn't look too much like an Evil Glenn entry.

People read too much into things, really. Red was probably just the color that came out of the 500-piece bucket.

That reminds me, I need to start getting in on Filthy Lies... Although they won't be as good as Harvey's

INSTAPUNDO DELENDA EST!

Yea, I finally realized that they actually put me on the blogroll.

The Nose a traitor???

The 24 ReportThe hot chick said it was Audrey who sold her the schematics.

Sadly, I think it's BS. As much as I hate Audrey, I don't think she'd do it.

Then again, who would have suspected Nina in season one?

Looks like Jack and Audrey are gonna have a talk... just not involving feelings or chamomile tea.

I can't wait :)

In other news, The 24 Report will make a return this week.

UPDATE: Uh, no, I lied. It won't happen. Just got home from a meeting.

Senseless violence...

Because if we never watch it, we'll never be de-sensitized.

Russian NASCAR

Or at least the parts that some people watch for.

Another commercial

This one is along the same lines of one I posted earlier this week, but it gets a link instead of being embedded because it would probably be considered "not safe for work"

So watch at your own risk.

Out driving with nowhere to go

I got thrown by one of those dynamic message signs in Winnie... it said:

FERRY WAIT TIME
EST 15 MIN
AT 8:00 PM

For those that don't know, the Bolivar ferry is the shortest route to Galveston from Beaumont and I guess since it's spring break TranStar is actually giving out the wait times since they only do when the ferry is busy.

Since I had nowhere to be and all the time in the world I decided to go down and take a ride. It's about a 50 mile drive from the SH 124 exit (just past the sign) to the ferry's dock, about all the way being two lane roads. Here's a map with the route from IH-10 to the landing marked.

Well, by the time I got to the landing (a little before 9) there was no wait. In fact, I got there just as they were loading one up and drove right on.

The wind was coming in pretty strong off of the gulf so the ride wasn't exactly the smoothest ever, but I wasn't complaining. I don't think I've rode it since middle school.

I decided to go back home the looooooooooooong way, through Houston.

I enjoied it.

Glad I don't live off of 290!!!

U.S. 290 shut down after man jumps

A man died after jumping off the Little York overpass onto U.S. Highway 290 and being struck by an 18-wheeler during the noon hour today, Precinct 2 Assistant Chief Constable J.C. Mosier said.

Traffic on the Northwest Freeway is bad enough without this.

They better get that cleaned out before rush hour or this'll look almost as bad as the Rita evacuation.

Blogging will be light today...

...because I'm being swarmed by cat-lovers who are not happy about me including a picture of a dog in the carnival.

I don't know how they found out where I live, but they did.

If Bush told these people that UBL put kittens in blenders and drank them we'd have captured him by now.

Regular blogging will resume tomorrow.

No in-depth 24 report again tonight, so if you want 24 stuff go to B4B

Just had to put in that Chloe pic :)

Random Thoughts: COTC # 103

For those that aren't familiar, random thoughts is something I do about three times a year where I list anything and everything that's on my mind at the time. I also adapt the feature for when I write about episodes of 24.

Probably the biggest shocker to some of you will be that I don't have a cat myself now, but I have in the past and I do like them.

Anywho, hosting the carnival was Bruiser's idea, so he's helping me with this. He tells me that this is his way of extending a paw in friendship to the other species. He's got a lot of good ideas, he's just not good with my laptop.

"Lessee... Control+A, delete"

No Bruiser. That won't help.

Anyways, lets get this crazy train rolling.

Cats like to hide sometimes. Like in baskets or fabric, under socks or pillows.

Do mysteries involving cats sell as well as mysteries involving humans?
Just like Bruiser, cats have a great sense of just when to get in the way. *growl* Sorry, Bruiser. They can be out-witted, though.
Kittens like any little bit of sun that they can find and the grown-up ones do too. It seems to be very common.
They don't sell foot-warmers like this in stores.
We call this "the look" where I come from. Or is this more like it?
Someone always has to be different, don't they?
Where's Mills Lane when you need him?
Sometimes us humans just don't get it.
There's never anything wrong with sitting back on the porch.
Cats have a different approach to getting attention than dogs. Some cats try harder than others.
Cats may have ears, but they don't always listen.
Gardens are a really nice place to soak up the sun outside.
Cats practice catch and destroy, not catch and release like fishermen. Cat hunters (at least in this case) just take pictures.
Believe it or not, snowclones does not refer to fake snow.
Ever feel like you're on the top of the world?
I have a friend who called her old car Smudge, this is not her old car.
I hear that Jon Stewart was very disappointed when he found out about this.
What's with meatloaf? It's not meat, and it's not a loaf... I don't think.
Cats that are in someone else's territory can get nervous sometimes.
I've heard of puppy love, but a cat with men issues? aight...
A week in the life of Millie.
Socks = fun toys. Even White Sox... until they sweep your guys in the World Series.
I think I found someone to teach Bruiser how to use a computer.
Can I go outside? No, really, can I?
Forget being let out, I want in!
I'm ready for my uber-close-up!!!
Cats can't do everything.
Spring is coming and these cats have already noticed.
Cats could care less about the whole red state, blue state thing.
A cat can really lighten up a window and they love looking out of them.
Cats can be very curious.
W.W.M.D.? (I've got the right link in now... put in the trackback by accident... oops)
Well, if I remember right, there was a cat-like animal in Beauty and the Beast...
Blogging was light for two days at Mog's place.
The critters in my house wouldn't be doing this... they'd be scarfing it down.
Cats are paranoid about people thinking they're fat. They're not the only species that feels this way.
Bruiser tells me that if cats have catnip bubbles, he wants bacon bubbles.
I guess that getting above "dog-level" can be beneficial.
This is one reason why they invented digital cameras.
Some cats like to bounce up and down like a super ball.
Are they stubborn or just trying to save you some time?
Don't you sometime just want to be left alone?
Is Walter bigger than Elvis? I can tell you now that he's cuter :)
Piper's on the fence, but about what? Maybe it's what sport she wants to be in in the Cat Olympics.
Cats are very fascinating creatures, especially to kids.
Well, I've found the Cat Jazz musician, but is there a cat 3 Doors Down, Hoobastank or Toby Keith?
They didn't teach Hamlet quite like this back in high school.
Oh no, not the cone of shame. And why it was necessary. Harley will forgive you, I'm sure.
The Croc Hunter could use these footprints to track whatever beast left them.
This is what happens when you mix cats and rain.
Everybody say it with me now... awwwwwwww...
Computer time is the perfect time for your creatures to get in the way... unless you want them to... taking that picture up top with Bruiser was a lot of work.
And finally, a plug for the Carnival.

Thanks for joining us here this week, it's been a blast hosting, even when I got that headache yesterday. As always, you can check out the Carnival of the Cats homepage and next week's host, Music and Cats.

I'm off to give Bruiser a treat for being such a big help.

NOTE: I've had some issues with HaloScan sending trackbacks. If you'd like one sent for your post drop me a line at fatelvis04@gmail.com with your trackback URL and I'll try to send you one again.

EDIT: Posted the wrong link to one page... my apologies.

Mandy???

The 24 ReportYes, that's right.

IMDb's listing for the next episode lists Mia Kirshner, who plays the recurring super-hott bisexual evil chick Mandy, as being in next week's episode. It's hard to say if this is true considering how reliable they were about Kim coming back, which caused at least one false Kim's back entry over at Blogs4Bauer.

I'll be happy if she does, but I don't expect it.

Enough links for you??? :)

Google Video of the day: Sports car driver gets pWN3D

I sucked tonight

No, not like that!!! Get yer mind out the gutter, sheesh.

I didn't hit my average once tonight in league. I'm pissed.

Why Mac's suck

Missouri Senator Kit Bond on being a good neighbor

Edited to retitle

AP: Colleague Angers Hutichison With Hurricane Aid Comments

Senator Kit Bond has angered Texas colleagues by suggesting that Texas forgo compensation for accommodating hundreds of thousands of Hurricane Katrina evacuees.

Bond spoke up yesterday as the Senate Appropriations Committee weighed President Bush's request for 20 (B) billion dollars in relief for the Gulf Coast.

The Missouri Republican said he thinks community block grant money should go to Mississippi and Louisiana for their post-hurricane needs. Speaking of Texas, he said: "I think it's time we get back to being a good neighbor and not a paid companion."

Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison responded angrily. She says she's given full support to other states' requests for post-disaster relief -- including hundreds of (M) millions of dollars sought by Missouri after devastating floods in 1993.

Of course, they make this AP story about Katrina solely, but it's not about that. This funding concerns Rita too.

But, as we all know, Texas wasn't affected at all by any hurricanes. Yea, that's right, those two weeks in Fort Worth were just a vacation and some guy with a pick-up truck knocked down all those trees in town. Yea, that's right, that's what happened.

And all those Katrina evacuees that came here. No, they never really did. They're not clogging up our schools, hotels and prisons (look at what Houston's crime rate has done since Katrina)

So no, we don't deserve any federal funding. Nothing's happened so that we deserve it.

Bastard.

I know someone I won't vote for up there.

Blogging will be light today because I'm going to the bowling alley and won't leave until I bowl a 300 game.

My average is 115 and I've really been sucking lately, so it may take a while.

Regular blogging will resume tomorrow.

Actually, it's because of the Toby Keith concert tonight. I just thought I'd borrow Lair's feature to make a better excuse.

Good

There won't be a runoff in either governor primary.

That means Kinky will be able to start collecting signatures tomorrow.

There's a big event Saturday at the LogOn Cafe to kick off the drive in Jefferson County. I'll be signing then.

On a side note, I now have a very good feeling about this campaign. All the other folks at the meeting were Bush-haters, something I'm far from. That shows me that his campaign crosses party lines.

Saving myself for Kinky

The Texas primaries are today.

And I'm not voting.

This isn't normal for me.

Unfortunately, with the f'd up state of Texas politics, you can't vote in the primaries and then sign a petition to get an independent on the ballot.

Kinky Friedman is the guy I'm throwing my support behind for governor, and he's an independent, so I stay home today.

Until about 6:40, when I'm going to the LogOn Cafe for the local meeting tonight.

If nothing else, I'll know where to go to sign the petition.

Look at my mad photoshop skills

OK, I've had a while to pull it together now...

The 24 ReportYea, I was a little emotional earlier. Still am. I can just put my thoughts together better now.

Let's face it, what happened the first hour-forty-five is not that impotant.

That ending made me very sad. Not just to see Edgar die, but Chloe's reaction. It's no secret that I like her. A lot. I think her reaction hit me harder than Edgar himself.

The silent clock at the end was a nice touch and totally deserved.

Kirby Puckett

Chron.com: Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett dies after stroke

RIP Kirby Puckett

If you watched, you know I HAD to chime in

The 24 ReportHoly.

Fucking.

Shit

Wow. 40% of CTU is gone. Just like that.

Edgar is the only big one I know for sure.

Go figure... trouble follows Kim everywhere.

That's all I can muster.

No 24 Report this week

The 24 ReportI've been under the weather the past few days and just don't feel like putting in the work this week to do something majorly in-depth like normal... maybe I'll do a few brief thoughts on it afterwards, but nothin big.

Sorry, y'all. You must be so dissappointed.

The ignored CD phenomenon

It's happened to me again.

You buy a few good CD's, but one or two of them are so good that you tend to all but ignore the other one.

The first time this happened I bought Green Day's American Idiot and Staind's Chapter V the same day. The Green Day CD got (and still gets) tons of playtime in the car while the Staind CD is sitting aroundin my room with a few tracks off of it on my MP3 player.

This time, it's two Hoobastank CD's (the top two on the list that comes up) and Hinder's Extreme Behavior. Yea, I know I'm late on the Hoobastank CD's. Call me stupid, but an ex-girlfriend had recommended them a while back and I finally got past the silly name and shelled out the cash.

It's not like the neglected CD's are bad ones, they just pale in comparison to the other ones.

Poor CD's.

Busted!!!

Saturday Dogblogging 3.4.06

This week, Petey and his half brother Charlie are joining us.

"Look, Charlie, we just might sucker them into thinking we're sweet and innocent after all."

Charlie doesn't live with us, but he did spend a night last week.

Petey is currently recovering from being neutered. He didn't have both balls drop so we went and had it done because just not having it done put him at a higher risk for cancer in the one that didn't drop. He';s a trooper and should be back to normal in a few days

Remember, Carnival of the Cats is here next Sunday. This week's will be put up tomorrow at roughly 6:00 PM CST at Catcall and Laurence is trying to get 100 submissions.

Re-watching the first season DVD's...

...I noticed something.

These screen captures are from the first episode at about the 8:30 mark.

That looks like a METRO bus... the thing is, that METRO is in Houston, not L.A. (at least I don't think)

Wonder how they pulled that off...

24: The Game

The 24 ReportPlatform: PS2

Players: 1

One-word description: Addicting

I mean like the GTA Series addicting. Most of my free time goes to playing the game. It's a challenge to the point that it can get VERY frustrating at times. There's a good mix of easy and hard levels and they tend to get progressively harder overall.

I haven't gone all the way through the game, but from what I have done of it, I'd give it a 9.5 so far. A definate buy, although people who don't watch 24 may not get it.

And if you don't watch the show, go get the first two seasons on DVD and watch them before you play the game, as it's set between seasons two and three, so you'll know all the backstories of characters before you play.

And there's no Nekkid Mandy. Yet.

No, she's not nekkid in that pic.

Favorite Bands/Artists

OK, maybe this'll kick up a little conversation... Maybe even a comment from the oh-so-shy Layla ;)

No, these aren't in order, just as they come to mind.

  • Toby Keith - If you hadn't figured it out already...
  • 3 Doors Down - Awesome band, and just as good live.
  • Green Day - I've always liked them, but they didn't crack this list until I finally went out and bought American Idiot.
  • Big & Rich - I just love their unique style.
  • Nickelback - I'll admit it, Photograph made me cry. Not when I first heard it, but when I went back to Beaumont for the first time after Rita just to pick some stuff up and head back to Fort Worth. I was just close enough to Houston to start getting The Buzz and that song came on. Didn't realize until that moment just how much I missed being home.
  • Norah Jones - Yea, I know. A shocker. The girl can sing though and her CD's are really relaxing, something I need a lot of sometimes.
  • Trapt - Very underappreciated. I worked one of their concerts and was forced to hold the lead singer's butt during Headstrong so he didn't bust his head wide open standing on the barricade in front of the mosh pit.

I need to go pick up a few CD's sometime soon. I don't have any Hoobastank, but I like a lot of their songs. It's just me getting off my butt and going to FYE.

Any suggestions for me???

One more week...

...until Toby Keith plays Reliant Stadium during RodeoHouston.

You wouldn't believe how much I'm looking forward to that show.

So... uh... blogging will be light next wednesday. Well, lighter than usual anyways.

Yes, I listen to country. Don't like it? Tough.

When Chimpanzees Jerk Off

An interesting thought on the subject from Laurence Simon.

Um... yea...

Coming tomorrow

The 24 ReportMy thoughts on 24: The Game

Yes, I picked up a copy today :)

Extreme Makeover: Sabine Pass

NOTE: I was going to post this yesterday, but decided to hold on to it for a little while.

No, I'm not making more changes to the template.

The Beaumont Enterprise - Extreme Makeover: Sabine Pass edition

SABINE PASS - At home, they lost clothes, mementoes and a place to lay their heads at night. When Hurricane Rita blew through five months ago, Sabine Pass students, the entire community really, lost something at school, too.

The school's theater had been home-base for a well-loved drama department and the site of Thanksgiving dinners, graduations and nearly any other large gathering in this small community at the southern tip of Jefferson County. By the end of the week, it will be a community hub again.

On Sunday, the cast and crew of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" descended on the school for 240 students in kindergarten through 12th grade to start a project to revamp the theater interior. The new look will be unveiled at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The rest of the story...

I went down there about a month after we got back from the evacuation to drop a few boxes of books off to the school that Pineland I.S.D.'s librarian (who's family) wanted to give to a school down here that needed 'em. I was just amazed when I saw how bad that little town was torn up, but five feet of storm surge can do that. The school, which is less than ten years old, seemed to be the only building in town that came out with relatively little damage.

24: 4 P.M.-5 P.M. - Mutiny on the CTU Floor

The 24 ReportComing to you like random thoughts, as written on my notepad... in order:

This week, the pre-24 faire is back to Skating with Celebrities, this being the final... or at least the start of it.

My death count estimate this week is 7. I'm posting it here since B4B hasn't put the post up yet... and won't since 24 is on in like five minutes.
Sweet, the graphic violence warning... a great indication of a good episode :)
Logan's totally clueless about what to do since Martha's in the limo.
Wow... Martha totally pWN3D her hubby in that phone call.
Audrey... I may not like her, but at least he's doing the right thing trying to work around Lynn.
Yes Edgar, cover for Chloe. We'll get ya some donuts later.
4:12:49 - 4:17:02
Can I kill Lynn? He's really pissing me off. I promise to make it as slow and painful as possible.
Good work getting him in the office, Audrey.
So 11 mall rats died in the mall... just what I thought.
I have to admit, I'm a little surprised that that dude's cooperating.
4:24:50 - 4:29:12
Go figure Lynn ignores the motorcade threat. He must have scored a 6 on the Wonderlic Test too, just like Vince Young. For those that don't know, the average person would score roughly a 20.
Section 112, sounds dangerous. But if it gets Lynn out the pic, I'm all for it.
Honestly, I feel bad for Logan right now. Really bad.
YES!!! SECTION 112!!! GO CURTIS!!!
Awww... Lynn's feelings are hurt. Let me play him the world's smallest violin *rubs two fingers together*
4:40:44 (and no kills yet) - 4:45:12
Nice to see Bill back, my bet is that he scored in the 40's on the Wonderlic (out of 50).
Well, it's outta Logan's hands now.
O.M.G. This has gotta be one of the most intense scenes I've seen in a while.
Aaron saves the day!!! Did I ever mention that he kicks ass??? I'll say it. I heart Aaron.
No idea what the kill count is... I need a TiVo. Bad.
4:50:16 - 4:54:43
Jack... you seem to be fucked, my man.
Nice work, he came out unscaved.
5:00:00
LOOSE ENDS:
Well, B4B will be happy to see Kim back... but will the Cougar come with her???
THE USUAL CHLOE THOUGHT: My girl totally kicked ass tonight.
Two episodes next week... SWEETNESS!!!

Aight, that's all folks. Until next week, this is Justin saying "Don't be a meanie, wrap your weanie." Don't ask.

A change of pace

Next weekend (3/12), we'll be hosting the Carnival of the Cats, edition #103.

Consider this Bruiser's way of extending a paw in friendship.

I may even share my toys with you.

Pin and Teller Tell it like it is about PETA

Checking the sitemeter...

This is one of those things I added yesterday.

First off, anybody reading this, don't freak. I'm not going tp pay so SiteMeter can show me your full IP address. Even if I did, I don't know how to do anything more invasive than ping it.

I get more hits that I thought I did. Then again, I figured I was the only one ever looking at this place, so go figure. I've got people coming across here from the US, Mexico, and Austrailia so far.

None of those nasty, egotistical Mac users, everybody's got Windows so far. Surprisingly, someone's using 98. WHO STILL HAS 98 ON THEIR SYSTEM, REALLY??? It was a good OS BACK IN '98!!! Move up to XP, or at least 2000 for crying out loud. If you come back and see this, please feel free to explain yourself in the comments. I'd be interested to hear why.

I'm hoping to keep this on for a while and be able to gather some stats for possible improvements down the road.

MORE Renovations

I've made more changes to the sidebar. I've been busy.

And bored.

But I think I'm done for a while... at least the rest of the weekend

I gotta find better things to do with my time...

Saturday Dogblogging 2.25.05

This week, Bruiser joins us.

"Is that food I see???"

That's just a beagle for ya.

Tune in next week when I post another pic and some stuff with it. It'll be better, I promise.

More 24 Stuff: Chloe Naked???

Blogs4Bauer: Chloe Interviewed on Fox

Not a big deal... they try to insinuate that she might be a mole, but not so successfully.

And then she says "I'll tell you one thing that's happening: nudity. I have to strip to get a terrorist to talk. I challenge a terrorist to strip craps and lose."

But then she says some weird stuff and it sounds like she's making the whole thing up.

It's probably a joke, Mary Lynn Rajskub, the actress who plays Chloe, is a comedian by trade after all, but if it's true... well, I dunno what I'll do...

24: 3 P.M.-4 P.M. - DAMMIT!!!

The 24 ReportComing to you like random thoughts, as written on my notepad... in order:

This week, it's House before 24. I've never seen the show, but I've heard a lot of good things about it, so I'm excited :)

OMG I've fallen in love with House (the show, not the doc)!!! It's amazing!!! But the doc's cool too, kinda reminds me of myself.
2:00:00
First two kills right off the bat, some guy who trusted the government guys and a guy who doesnt know where Nathanson is. Wow, my guess on B4B is gone in the first segment.
Lynn, don't they teach you to keep stuff like your keycard somewhere other than your wallet??? Sheesh, I woulda known that. This situation will turn into something later on, I guarantee it.
Lynn doesn't need to go on an egotrip, he needs to go away, preferably at the hands of Jack.
The guy that called will certainly tell us something... too bad... wait... a blood choke on Curtis. He's out for the count.
3:13:16 - 3:18:24
Is it just me, or is Lynn not happy about Jack getting away?
Yes, Chloe, delete those phone logs. I <3 U!!!
3:24:15 - 3:28:25
Lynn's starting to piss me off on his egotrip...
YES!!! A FIREFIGHT!!! One more body by my notes, a guy in the building. that makes three.
Guy is on the roof and is being chased. He's cornered, so he's SOL, right? Right???
No, Jack takes out two more guys, making the count five and forces a heli to land by shooting it full of lead.
Jack gets the data from Nathanson, and he's dead. Make that six.
3:38:18 - 3:42:32
Martha knows about the call Logan got, she doesn't like it.
I hope Lynn dies. At Jack's hands. Bad. I hate him.
3:48:40 - 3:52:52
Chloe's doing her thing and gets the info.
The guy calls Logan at a bad moment and Novick (Who looks like Cheney, so don't go hunting with him) tells 'em the route. The terrorists deploy.
Uh-oh. Martha's gonna go with them. This aint good.
3:00:00
LOOSE ENDS:
THE USUAL CHLOE THOUGHT: Not too much of her, but she played a pretty signifigant role, so I'll take it. She's welcome on my couch anytime (Only one person will get that, so don't worry hehe)
Looks like the minions at CTU are gonna get some balls with Lynn. I look forward to the red shirts totally f****** something up.

That's all. Until next week, this is Justin screaming DAMMIT!!!

Hometown News: President`s Day Closures

Monday is a holiday. President`s day.
A majority of services will be taking the day off.
Most banks are closed, including most State and Local government offices are closed. No mail delivery.
Trash pick-ups maybe delay, checked your holiday schedule for your next pick-up day.
Huh???

I hate this time of year

But not because it's cold, even if it is 39 right now...

It's Girl Scout Cookie season... we got four boxes of them.

They had to tell me about it too, didn't they???

If nobody had told me, I'd never known and wouldn't have eaten any of them.

I swear they're trying to make me gain back the weight I lost since I started working with Wes...

Saturday Dogblogging 2.18.05

Yes, it's another new feature here, loosely based on Friday Catblogging, which Laurence Simon oh so elaquently explains here.

"Bear's too big for me to beat up, so I'm gonna take out my frustrations on this toy," said Bruiser.

"He's smarter than I thought. Guess he realizes there's no way he'd ever catch me, much less beat me up!!!" Bear replied.

Petey is a little camera-shy. He'll learn.

That's all for now.

P.S. My brother Jason took the pic of Bear, but since he used my camera I'm stealing it :)

Our newest addition

Everybody say hi to the "I must be losing my mind!!!" box that I just added to the sidebar.

"Hi box!!!"

Justin's Random Thoughts: Always looking for a way to make fun of myself.

Pissing People Off

I'm not the only one that occasionally takes great joy in pissing off people that piss me off, am I???

Anyone???

I say coke, you say soda, they say pop

Under the News: I say pop, you say soda

Well, that's interesting...

UPDATE: St. Louis leans toward soda, Beaumont Coke. I thought I'd be nice and not make you look it up yourself :)

Blogs I frequent

There are other blogs I read, these are just the ones I look at the most.

Blogs4Bauer: a very good "24" blog, and the inspiration for my "24 Report," which somehow draws a comment every week...

IMAO: Unfair. Unbalanced. Unmedicated. And good for a laugh with a conservative twist.

MeMo: I'm really not even sure why I read her. But I do.

mountaineer musings: SarahK does a good 24 recap too. There's also the fake sarahk site (or is it the real one?) by Cadet Happy.

TechBlog: Keeps me fairly up-to-date on tech stuff.

This Blog Is Full Of Crap: The only crap here is the stuff Laurence rants about... and his apparent inability to proofread. He recently started Catcall, a blog about cats on Chron.com and I'm a member of his Dead Pool.

A good reminder of why I'm moving...

I just had a talk with an ex of mine...

I won't mention what she told me, but for some reason no matter how bad something she says bothers me (tonight was REALLY BAD), I'm still attracted to her for some reason.

Welcome to my SERIOUSLY F***** UP life.

It's stuff like this that reminds me why I need a major change of scenery. BAD.

And why Houston won't cut it.

So, uh... St. Louis, here I come I guess...

Changes

I've added HaloScan to handle my comments and trackbacks... so now we can hav3e actual trackback pings... now if i can just figure out how to send an outbound one...

24: 2 P.M.-3 P.M. - Let the Bodies hit the Floor

The 24 ReportComing to you like random thoughts, as written on my notepad... in order:

I wonder if this'll be another Audrey-free writing. I can't stand her at all.

Great, an Emergency Alert System test just before the start. This bodes well. Oh, good, it's over in time :)
Sweet, the graphic violence warning. A strong indication of a good episode. Or is it always there? I don't remember.
2:00:00
Wow... The dude never noticed it was someone else's voice.
Wait, how'd they find the chip? and get it programmed??? I'm sooooo lost.
Watch Martha's aide leak what happened to the press. Watch. It.
THAT WASN'T THE DEAL!!! THEY CAN'T TAKE JACK!!! Then again, this would be boring if they didn't.
2:13:54 - 2:18:13
They should go public with what happened. But they won't.
I'm starting to like Martha, she stands by her convictions. Maybe she's had the PResident's pair all along...
Is this a Saturday? If it is, the terrorists could take out a bunch of mall rats. "Like, OMG, those guys have gas masks." "The one on the left is like soooooo hott!!!"
For some reason, I think Bll wants to beat the crud out of Lynn. That'd be the guy's second time in an hour, after all.
2:24:57 - 2:29:22
First body hits the floor. Security guard.
I'd hate to be Logan right now, having to make that decision. I have no idea what I'd do, but I think he settled on the right decision.
Uh-oh, Jack's in trouble. This should be interesting.
2:37:24 - 2:41:45
Jack's waking up... good.
Kick-pinkytoe (shout-out to sarahk), Jack's doing what he does best, killing a guy when he's in a bad position. Second body hits the floor.
I don't have a hard body count on the people that were down because of the gas. Logan was told between ten and twenty, but Jack mentioned eleven before he walked out, so I'm sticking with that. That makes thirteen bodies on the floor. Way higher than my guess on Blogs4Bauer of five.
Wow. Jack gave that little girl his mask, awesome.
Jack and the girl are both OK.
I've never tried, but isn't it suppossed to be harder to hot-wire a car?
2:49:29 - 2:53:52
Yes, terrorist man, go back. Take us to your leader hehe.
Wow, I can't believe Martha chickened out. Wow. Maybe she doesn't have Logan's pair after all.
Poo, terrorist guy kills himself. That's the fourteenth body hitting the floor there.
3:00:00
LOOSE ENDS:
Another Chloe-light episode. I'm upset. Then again, Spencer's out of the picture now, maybe I can move in :-p

Waah, waah

Reuters: Flap brews over delay of Cheney shooting news

WASHINGTON -- President Bush knew hours after Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a fellow quail hunter but the White House came under fire today for not making the information public until the next day.
Why all this commotion about something the average person doesn't give a crap about a non-story? I don't get it.

Remember

You don't touch another man's meat.

Ever.

That's gonna be a good show, but probably underappreciated. Just like Arrested Development.

Remember, 24 is tonight.

I almost forgot...

24: 1 P.M.-2 P.M.

The 24 ReportSorry for the delay, but Blogger was down when I normally write this. Here ya go :)

Did I ever mention that Skating with Celebrities sucks??? I think I did... although I must admit that the show is starting to grow on me. They're actually pretty good... I think. I know very little about this figure skating stuff.

Spencer is a tool.
1:00:00
Cummings spills his guts with the background info. Prez Logan's screaming at him and stuff, he may be growing a pair after all...
Did I eever mention that Aaron is da man? Because he is, ya know...
Lynn's sister is pretty f***ed up.
Oooh, Sean Connery is gonna reprogram the remote for the canisters... What? That's not Sean Connery? I know, but he looks like him, so there! I WIN!!! *happy dance*
Spencer's coming back. Sweet. I wish I was him. Did I ever mention that I <3 Chloe???
Kim. Is. Coming. Back. This aint good.
1:13:35
That PayPass thing looks like a rip-off of Speedpass. I love my Speedpass.
1:17:53
Oooh, Martha slapped her idiot hubby, he deserved it. Jack should cut HIS eyes out.
And she's right about the Cummings issue, they should be honest.
Chloe's really pissed at Spencer... I guess I should be too. NOBODY messes with my girl Chloe.
Sweet, they got Sean Connery. I had a feeling they'd f*** this one up.
Go fig, the person behind the bed is nobody we know.
1:27:56 - 1:32:22
Doesn't the bike shop guy know better than to trust the terrorists??? What. An. Idiot.
Oooh, Sean Connery's not gonna get any pain meds... we all know what this means...
I can't believe that pussy Lynn, making Jack accept the deal. This is bull poo.
1:38:59 - 1:43:02
Sean may prove to be useful after all...
Oh F***!!! The girl's 15??? What a perv...
Letting Spencer go is the right move... clears the way for Edgar... or Jack... Just think, Jack and Chloe together. It would work.
Cummings? Suicide? Pussy.
1:48:18 - 1:52:42
<Millhouse voice>Ha ha</Millhouse voice> Lynn got his butt kicked. Sweet.
Bike shop guy. Didn't I tell you to not trust them? Are you st00pid???
Sooooo typical of 24, get someone to shoot and kill the important guy. It's always women too. You can't trust 'em.
2:00:00
LOOSE ENDS:
Overall, a good episode. And there was plenty of Chloe time, so it's all good :)

24: delayed

The 24 ReportBlogger will be taken down for maintenance just after 24, so I won't get my post up until tomorrow afternoon probably, with work and all.

Petey

He's our newest member of the family. He's a Sheltie, about 6 months old that we "adopted" so to speak from my mom because he's not good breeding material with just one dropping.

He's a real character, fits in well with our other two.

Second Annual Super Bowl Predictions

Last year I got all my predictions right, let's see how it goes this year... probably not as good, it's gonna be a crapshoot.

For the Game:
Pittsburgh

The Spread:
PIT by 4½

This is a tough one. Really tough. My gut is it's gonna be a field goal though, so I have to go with Seattle here.

Over/Under:
47

Only a half-point off from last year, but these offenses seem to me to be better than last years, so I'm taking the over.

UPDATE: OK, so I got 1 of 3 this year :(. Admittedly, I wasn't very confident in my picks.

Note to self

Lone Star Times » Florida has no clothes

Note to self: NEVER go to Florida... and make sure the hooker isn't a guy.

Not that I've ever hired one. Or will for that matter. There are easier ways to get laid.

Unless you're my brother, who tried to beg me to let him borrow my Visa Check Card so he could buy his girl something that he thinks MIGHT help him finally get in her pants after A YEAR AND A HALF!!!

What sports car are you?

I'm a Chevrolet Corvette!

You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do.

Take the Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.

24: Noon-1 P.M.

The 24 ReportComing to you like random thoughts, as written on my notepad... in order:

Why does Fox insist on putting the crappiest show on their run-down, Skating with Celebrities, on before 24??? It's total crap.

And am I the only one that can't help but say "on the day of the California Presidential Primary" after "The following takes place between...?"
I swear that Chloe is just like my friend Whitney.
Now, let's get to the Cummings and goings... :-p
Attacking Moscow??? Oh. Kay. We'll see how that goes.
I still can't get over that fight scene last week, it was so sweet.
PART 1 12:00:00-12:10:17
Jack's working with Pile o' Coathangers (MeMo's name for Audrey, attributed to her amazingly low BMI)..... can you say awkkkkkkk-weeeeerd
Jack's gonna leave Diane??? WHY??? She's 10x hotter than Pile o' Coathangers!!!
PART 2 12:14:32-12:25:34
Unlock Code Verified??? WTF does that mean? Something aint right...
Diane's got a point... if Pile o' Coathangers aint still got feelings for Jack, she needs to tell him. Apparently Jack still does.
I HATE LOGAN!!! WHY COULDN'T HE HAVE DIED LAST SEASON???
WTF? Cummings is coming clean??? You can't be serious.
All this to set up a military presence in Asia to get oil??? Riiiiiiiiiight...
PART 3 12:29:44-12:38:24
Bauer and Novak's meeting got broke up by the Secret Service. I don't like this...
I HATE CUMMINGS!!!
Jack might have a chance after all, Aaron's on the case.
PART 4 12:42:55-12:49:16
Jack's loose, thanks Aaron!!!
YES!!! Kick Cummings ASS!!! GO JACK!!! CUT HIS EYE OUT!!!
Crap. Cummings squealed and told him where the gas was...
Cummings is taken away, and Jack shares a moment with Pussy in Chief Logan. Jack *claims* he'll disappear again... probably in a little over 18 hours. I dunno why I think that...
PART 5 12:53:42-1:00:00
Logan tries to make up to his wife for wanting to ship her off to the nuthouse for thinking she was crazy, she has every right to be a bitch towards him. Yay Martha!!!
Edgar did some digging and found which crate the nerve gas SHOULD be in... give the man a twinkie!!!
They break into the container and find... a dead guy. No gas. Should have known, this is 24, not 6.
The terrorists found out about the detonators being changed out and are now gonna attack the U.S., shoulda known.
LOOSE ENDS:
This was a very Chloe-light episode. That's disappointing. I <3 Chloe!!!
What happened to Spencer? I have to admit, I was dissappointed to not see the little weasel that was boinking Chloe.

New feature coming to JRT today

The 24 ReportStarting this week, I'll begin blogging on the episode of 24 this week.

One post a week. About the episode. Maybe more.

Until then, check out Blogs4Bauer.

Fading into Bolivion

As teased on Laurence Simon's Dead Pool | Dead Pool tease

You're right Laurence, my pick of Mike Tyson does suck.

But not for your reasons.

Yes, the man's a nut. Bigtime. He's even admitted it. "I'm on the Zoloft to keep from killing y'all," he once said

He also said "I can sell out Madison Square Garden masturbating." I dunno about you, but I'm not buying tickets to see that.

His craziness is the reason I picked him. I'm looking for him to do something really stupid that will get him killed, like a big barfight or something.

The pick sucks because now that he's retired, there's not really any news out there on him.

In the meantime, enjoy some Mike Tyson quotes.

I'm tempted...

I like cold weather.

I always have.

Cold weather this winter has been even harder to come by than normal.

I'm tempted to move to St. Louis right now just to experience some. I hear it's been warmer than normal there too, but it's still cooler than a normal winter here.

Seriously, I don't think we've had a freeze yet.

Me. Behaving

Yea, that's right.

I was at the bowling alley earlier tonight for league and the good-lookin new gal behind the counter at the kitchen asked me "what do you want?" because she apparently forgot I'd asked for a Dr. Pepper, so I said "Dr. Pepper."

Someone else that works there was at the counter with me and said that he thought that was rude, so she said "What do you want, sir? What would you like, sir?"

My response?

"If I told you I'd get slapped"

And that was behaving... for me.

Rita's sense of humor

Under the News: Here's your sign

Don't you hate it when that happens?

Le' Paris (Hilton)

Teased from Laurence Simon's Dead Pool | Dead Pool tease

Paris Hilton voted 2005’s most hated celebrity - Newindpress.com

OK, say it with me now... DUH!!!

All I want to know about her is weither or not she should be captured by the government as a danger to society. The girl has to be walking around with every STD known to man, and probably one or two that we don't know about. They're bound to kill her. That, my readers, is why she's on my roster.

Of course, knowing my luck, all those STD's are probably busy fighting over who's the best that they don't have any time to focus on what they're suppossed to do.

And before you ask, no I wouldn't hit it. Not even with a stolen dick, as George Carlin would say.

2006: New Beginnings

It's finally here.

2006 is gonna kick ass.

I've got some goals (I refuse to call them resolutions)

  • Get in shape
  • Move to a different part of the country
  • Get into, and pass, the police academy wherever I move to
  • Win Laurence Simon's Dead Pool
Simple enough, right???

Well, maybe not the dead pool one, but the others :)

Speaking of the dead pool, I wrote about T.O. yesterday since he's on my roster. In it, I prophecy how he will meet his demise. Don't let me down Eagles fans, I know you can do it.

And happy new year to all three of my readers.

Saturday, December 24, 2005

It should not be like this...

It's Christmas freakin Eve... and 70. About this time last year we were getting snow.

I guess it's better that we're not getting snow... people here can't drive in it for anything.

Friday, December 23, 2005

Not feeling too Christmas-y

It's been a rough year. REALLY rough.

Between losing three friends (yes, THREE), Rita, my usual problems with members of the opposite sex and all the other boring crap that goes on in my seriously fucked-up existence it's been a really tough time.

I'm just looking forward to 2006. It can't be any worse I don't think... unless my moving to a different part of the country turns out to be a total bust... which it won't. *crosses fingers*

I leave you with a gift straight from Belvedere on the West end of town:

Refrigerator with ribbons on it
